Well, it's currently 2 AM on a Sunday night and instead of being in bed like a normal functioning adult would be, I'm sitting in my computer chair cracked out on Red Bull because my professors thought it would be a great idea to schedule 2 exams and a presentation all on the same day. I'm most likely going to be up for another 2 hours or so and to be honest, I haven't even really begun to study for exam # 2 yet, I'll have to do that during my 10 - 2 break from classes tomorrow. I really love being a senior... I wish I could stay one forever!
Graduation can't come soon enough.

Locked out!
I thought I was going to be late to work this afternoon after taking way longer than I expected to at Quiznos eating my delicious 5 dollar sub. So here I am speeding down oleander, cup in my hand, lettuce on my face, trying to get to ProForma before two. I pull into the parking lot, get out and rush up to the door expecting to get right in and say hello to the nice lady that works downstairs like usual. The door is locked, so I do what every person would, I start knocking.
After about 10 minutes of this with no response from Mona or JT upstairs, and many weird looks from people passing by, I decided that knocking was probably not my best strategy. I wasn't sure what I should do next. We weren't listed in the directory or on 411 (something we need to do soon), and I, being the intelligent person that I, am forgot to program their numbers into my cell phone.
I decided to walk into the office next to ours and see if there was anything they could do to help me out. A super nice lady was sitting behind a desk and when I told her my situation she got on her computer and looked up the numbers listed on our website.
So here I am, sitting at home, doing what I should be doing in my office at work. It could be worse.

Working when I'm not at work?
I'm starting to really enjoy this internship. I find myself reading marketing strategies and articles at home, and writing out goals and ideas of what I want to accomplish when I go back into the office. It's nice finally being able to do something that interests you rather than "would you like fries with that?"

Tuesday - Week 2, walking into insanity
Well, although this isn't my actual first day of my internship at ProForma, it is the first day that I decided to jump into the world of blogging, so I guess we'll start here. We can take a trip through time to last week when I was just a lowly intern with no desk and no direction, but we may as well stay in the present where I'm a lowly intern (with an office!) and no direction.
Starting an internship in the field you have been preparing for in the past 4 years of your university experience makes you realize just how little the things you learn in your marketing classes really apply in the real world. "let me look back at my text book to see how we can market this" or "I remember jr. year in professor whatever's class when we talked about this" are things I'm never going to consider.
Real world experience is WAY more beneficial. I can honestly say that in a week of being at this internship with ProForma who specialize in document management, I have learned more about marketing and IT than in a semester at UNCW.
More on the higher up's and what I'm doing there later!
Oh, if you want to check out the company I'm interning for, here they are:
